On this evening’s show, Rachel Maddow offered a great summary of the anti-gay campaign now being waged against marriage equality in Maine.

But even more revealing is her interview with Maine Gov. John Baldacci. Maddow points out that Baldacci campaigned against granting marriage rights to gay and lesbian couples during 2006 re-election campaign. He explains to her how he came to change his mind about the issue.

“It was an issue where you realized that civil unions are not equal to civil marriage,” he says. “And my responsibility under the constitution is to represent all people and not one particular faith or another. Full story...
