‘Symbolic’ marriage equality bill introduced in Penn. legislature

  Pennsylvania capitol, Harrisburg Even though he gives it no chance to pass in the current Pennsylvania legislature, state Sen. Daylin Leach (D, Montgomery) has introduced the state’s first bill to recognize equal marriage rights for gay and lesbian couples.

Despite his bill’s limited prospects, Leach insisted, “The timing is right for Pennsylvania to be part of the national discussion” about marriage equality.

“I want to make sure the discussion is not lopsided, that gay people know someone is fighting for them,” he said,

Leach said he was under no illusion that his bill would become law in the Keystone state any time soon, according to Philadelphia Inquirer. Full story...
