The Advocate has a article out on a new Hunter College poll, entitled Poll: Only 2.9% of Americans Are LGB.
Hunter College released the results of a groundbreaking poll Wednesday that found only 2.9% of Americans older than 18 identify as LGB, lower than the 4%-5% often cited in voter exit polls.
Professor Patrick Egan of New York University, one of the poll's authors, explained that exit polls generally provide an over-representative sample of LGBs. "Exit polls are based on voters -- the people who show up at the polls. Gays and lesbians vote much more consistently than the general population," Egan said. Full story...
I was watching "America's Got Talent" last night. Guilty pleasure, I know, but what struck me as notable is that they have had three non-traditionally-gendered people in the competition (I hestitate with "transgender" because I don't know for certain) -- a Britney Spears impersonator (hot!), a Tina Turner impersonator (eh.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

UPDATE: McCain's remarks are below the fold.
OK. Go at it. McCain's vanity video is on now.
It's pretty significant that a McCain emissary dared to be seen hobnobbing with the Log Cabin Republicans, considering the strong anti-gay public position of the McCain/Palin ticket (and the watchful eye of Daddy D and the professional "Christian" set).
When can you discriminate against a transgender person? If one perceives an individual to be a crossdresser or a transsexual, but is "post-surgical" [has had genital reconstruction surgery (GRS)], is it discriminating against one because one perceives the individual as transgender, or discriminating against an individual because of perceived gender?
The difference between transgender discrimination and gender discrimination is no small thing.

Only at the RNC can people who one night before asked the country to do service for their country then now boo when Giuliani mentions community organizing.
I watched the Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin speeches last night, but before I get to it, I just have to laugh at the feeble country-rock song penned by John Rich entitled "Raisin' McCain".
From Vanity Fair, a look at how Cindy McCain dresses for success at the Republican convention. This is for one outfit.
