At one point back in the day, Condi Rice was touted by the knuckle-draggers as a Veep choice or even a presidential candidate, but once she mildly praised Barack Obama for his speech about race, the Freepi turned on her. Today she made an equally mild observation that the country wouldn't blow up if Obama took the helm US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the nation would be safe under a Barack Obama presidency and that she is ruling out a shot at the vice presidency under either Obama or Republican John McCain.
In an interview with Politico and Yahoo News released Thursday, Rice was asked if she would feel secure with a president Obama. Full story...
Watching tonight's Colbert Report before hittin' the sack for tomorrow's big day. He's got a joke set up by noting all the cable pundits predictions for the implosion of the Democratic Party over the Hillary / Obama rift, and the punchline is:

I walked into the convention hall today, on my way to the LGBT Caucus (and on my way to pick up a credential to get me into the Pepsi Center today), when I saw San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome.
