Bad news from the Arkansas Times' blog: The group that wants to make adoption and foster parenting in Arkansas more difficult (and punish gay people in the process) has announced that it has enough signatures to qualify for an extension in signature gathering for its proposed initiated act.
This is to say that, with almost 62,000 signatures needed, the group has obtained that many, but knows that many will be disallowed, either as improperly gathered or not those of registered voters. Every signature must be individually witnessed. A petition can't be left in a church vestibule for unmonitored signatures, for example. Full story...

When San Francisco based Pacific Gas & Electric made a donation of $250K to fight the passage of Prop 8, it made the fundies hopping mad, because the usual tactic of screaming "boycott" presented some, er, difficulties for them.
Republicans, who insisted that Sarah Palin, with her "executive experience" is ready on day one to step in as POTUS if McCain kicks it, are now actually saying she's not ready and is cramming up in Alaska to be able to answer questions from the press.
