Since blogging about the ACT UP Media event (a few posts down) I have been getting emails from some activists from the time who have been sending me art and clips and emails.Most notably, BitterQueen who authors the blog: History Of Gay Bars- the most extensive and comprehensive gay nightlifeand culture archive of New York City I've ever come across has been sending me original posters and fliers from the late 1980's. I strongly recommend jumping over to History of Gay Bars. It's unfathomably detailed and interesting. He deserves a lot of credit.Since the Pope is in America this weekend I thought I'd share some of the art BitterQueen has been sending me. Full story...

In an incredibly bizarre twist of fate the 11th place team- that's right, 11th place team, The Masterbeat MasterBeatdowns, won every game and climbed the ladder of this week's championship games and came home in the number 1 spot!The whole league was astonished that this rag-tag team who nobody took seriously was able to beat The Logo - DownLogos, The Stonewall Riots, The United Shipping's Massive Delivery and one of the most powerful teams, The Henrietta Hussies and took home the BigAppleDodgeball Season 3 trophy.

if that...The NYC World AIDS Day Event entitled "Out of the Darkness" included a meet- up at GMHC and a candle light vigil march down to a church in Greenwich Village where speakers, activists and performers were all part of the program.

Writer, activist and performer David Worjnarowicz(1954-1992) One of my favorite pieces of writing from the 1980's AIDS crisis is entitled "Do Not Doubt the Dangerousness of the 12-inch Politician" and can be found in David Worjnarowicz's book: Close to Knives: A Memoir of Disintegration.
