A child-custody between a mother and a transman father in Brooklyn is getting ugly, with the woman employing the same homophobic legal arguments Martina Navratilova recently used to try to get things her way after a judge agreed that the boy's father had the right to seek permanent custody. The couple had previously falsified a marriage license claiming the transition man was legally male. "When the judge gave him standing to sue for custody, I thought, 'What's happening? She voided the marriage, she knows he is a woman.' It's ludicrous," the boy's mother told the Daily News.While it's despicable for her to do and say these things, to me -- as in the Martina case -- it just reiterates why we need marriage equality for everyone.
